I have experience writing for retail, e-commerce, travel, leisure, food and drink, home and luxury businesses. I particularly enjoy working to build a brand, improve its tone of voice and, indeed, sales.
I found my way into copywriting after working in all kinds of other businesses in far less suitable positions, so I have a bit of life experience behind me. Eventually, it was time to do the inevitable...
I trained in copywriting and proofreading with the Publishing Training Centre in London, and have a background in languages, with varying degrees of proficiency: English, Dutch and French. Sometimes, I get the chance to use this knowledge in my work, where things need translating or proofing.
I have worked as an in-house copywriter for companies including Booking.com, Bathstore and Bookatable, and on a freelance basis for various agency clients, mainly in the travel and leisure fields. Netflights, Red Sea Holidays, David Wilson Homes, Netflix Belgium and megabus are some of them.
From 2014 - 2016, I wrote full-time for the luxury tea company Newby Teas. All the copy for everything: advertisements, social media, press releases, magazine features, menus, blog posts, packaging and more. I have written everything from button text, navigation and banner microcopy to corporate presentations and entire product catalogues.
I also write copy for the travel website CoolStays, writing about a lot of lovely destinations and properties, mainly throughout Europe, an area I am particularly interested in.
I'm currently looking for a new full-time role, so I may have time for a small freelance project or two...
