About this project

I write a lot of travel content for this website. Here's an example for a hotel in Germany.

25hours Hotel Bikini Berlin

One funky monkey of a hotel, 25hours Bikini Berlin brings imaginative design, wild animal themes and a youthful exuberance to the west of the city. Looking out over Berlin Zoo, it’s 5 minutes from the shops and entertainment of Kurfürstendamm avenue, and with 360° views from its rooftop terrace, you can get to know the city everyone’s talking about inside-out.

Taking the themes of nature and culture, designer Werner Aisslinger has created a hotel like no other. Jungle rooms enjoy views of the zoo’s elephants and apes, while Urban rooms look out over the busy city surroundings. 25hours make it easy for you to get out and explore that city, offering bike and even Mini Cooper rentals – although when you see the vibrant décor and impressive facilities of your room, you may want to linger inside a little longer.

You’ll be slumbering on a king or queen-size bed, energising yourself under the sleek rain-shower and no doubt making use of the free Wi-Fi, iPod dock and iMac workstation… or perhaps an invigorating trip to the well-being area is more appealing? Up on the 9th floor, the relaxing Jungle Sauna will really get you back to nature – the views out to the zoo take some beating.

The sociable public areas of the hotel are there to be enjoyed, so be sure to get out of your room and make the most of the experience. You can try a little of everything at the NENI Restaurant, and there’s a lot to try – Persian, Moroccan, Turkish, Spanish and German are just some of the culinary influences. Just as enticing is the Woodfire Bakery, which keeps freshly baked pastries and locally roasted coffee coming all day long.

When night falls, it’s straight up to the top floor where the Monkey Bar’s panoramic views, NENI nibbles and cool sundowner terrace make for an atmospheric evening. You could also catch a DJ set or live music at the bar, which oozes effortless cool while keeping it friendly. For something a little more subdued, head to Bikini Island, a specially created zone for chilling and chatting with a fair bit more character than your average hotel lobby.

It’s no wonder Berlin has become one of Europe’s coolest must-do cities, with an unrivalled club scene and countless great places to dine opening their doors in recent years. 25hours not only puts all this on your doorstep, but it’s also a short stroll from the beautiful Tiergarten, a large and lovely city oasis perfect when you need to recharge. There’s plenty of historical and architectural interest too, of course – the Brandenburg Gate and Reichstag Building, for example, lie just beyond the park.

Culture and nature really do come together perfectly at 25hours Bikini Berlin, a one-of-a-kind hotel you really shouldn’t miss out on.
