NEED: Firstec Utilities, a plumbing and heating company launched by experienced industry professionals, required a distinct logo and website. Optimisation for search was important, as was emphasis on the Firstec’s strong boiler installation and maintenance offer. ACTION: A two-tone logo was designed which would capture both the professionalism and eco credentials of the new company, while emphasising the ‘first technology’ message. The vibrant coloration would strongly influence the new website design. A website page hierarchy was defined which would support each of 9 distinct core services provided by Firstec. In particular, boilers were supported by 3 separate pages, ‘boiler installation & maintenance’, ‘ECO boiler grants’ and ‘boilers on finance’. Keyphrase research was carried out for each web page in turn, and clear and concise copywriting produced that would appeal to search engines and directly engage with target domestic customer audience. Website design and development followed, project managed by Marcom Words. To help increase new website visits, a 2-page DL flyer was produced for doorstep drop across the local city and surrounding areas. Again, I provided full project management: concept, copywriting, design and artwork. IMPACT: Firstec Utilities has established a highly differentiated position among local and indeed many national heating and plumbing companies. Through a combination of creative copywriting and graphic design work, it portrays an image that is professional, environmentally aware and customer-centric.
