Introduction
Located 40km to the northeast of the capital, London Stansted International Airport has more European destinations than any other UK airport. A major base for low-cost carriers, over 24 million passengers passed through its main terminal building in 2016, and Stansted also runs cargo services to various international destinations.
For the past century, Hertz Car Rental has been supplying countless customers from around the globe with a wide range of quality cars, enabling them to explore diverse environments in comfort and convenience. Customers arriving at the London Stansted International Airport branch of Hertz Car Rental can quickly and with minimal fuss pick up a vehicle of their choice and drop it off there or at another branch of Hertz when they’ve finished with it, allowing them great flexibility in their travel arrangements.
About the airport
The airport had its origins in 1943 when it was used by the RAF, but commercial operations did not begin until 1966 when holiday charter companies started using it to avoid the higher costs associated with Heathrow and Gatwick. The whole airport was redeveloped in the late 1980s and early 1990s, with Norman Foster designing the present terminal building. Long-haul services also started in the early 1990s with flights to and from Chicago. Plans for a second runway were abandoned in 2010, although the terminal building was redeveloped again in 2013.
London Stansted International Airport has one main terminal building and three oblong passenger satellite buildings. The London Stansted International branch of Hertz can be found on the ground floor of the terminal within an easy walk of arrivals.
