Leaflet & Website Copywriting for Bristol-based Charity

About this project

SARSAS - Somerset and Avon Rape and Sexual Abuse Support - is a Bristol-based charity that was planning a campaign about the importance of sexual consent. I came on board to provide hard-hitting copy for a leaflet, website and various collateral for the campaign. It was crucial that the tone was appropriate for a young audience (primarily teens and university students) and that the copy was engaging and informative without being boring or patronising. I was also able to offer considerable creative input. This included suggesting a post card was designed to look like a cassette tape - with the campaign messaging disguised as the band name and track listing, and creating copy for an interactive quiz for the campaign website. The Director or SARSAS provided the following testimonial: "Hannah was able to quickly capture what we needed for our campaign and transformed our clunky wording into a vibrant, clear and creative leaflet. Until we started working with Hannah we had not realised the value of using a copywriter for our campaigning and awareness work. Thank you!" You can read the website copy (and do the quiz!) here - http://pauseplaystop.org.uk

Extract of the leaflet copy:

Sexual Consent: What’s It Got To Do With Me?

Well, if you have sex or want to have sex, it’s got everything to do with you.

Making sure you get and give consent before having any kind of sex with another person really matters.

You don’t need to have to have a sit-down chat about it if you don’t want to – but consent should always be clear.

Sex is only sexy when it’s between two people who have given their consent. Unless you both want it and are both capable of making a free choice, you are breaking the law.

If it’s not your body, it’s not your decision. Make sure you ‘get’ consent. Know when to Pause, Play and Stop.
