Project managing a rebrand for a Padstow cafe rebuild
The brand — cafe with a view (and crazy golf)
Greens Of Padstow is a licensed cafe and crazy golf garden perched high above Padstow harbour, with panoramic views over the Camel Estuary and town. In 2016/17, it underwent a 12-month rebuild and rebrand with new chef, a refreshed menu and extended opening hours. The task was to define the new brand, co-ordinate creatives, differentiate it from the crowded market and communicate the changes to the loyal customers.
Challenge — rebrand, renovate, relaunch
Owners, Ian and Sharon Whittock, called on Blue Scribe to manage the 12-month project, and approached us through local food consultant, Lewis Cole, in April 2016, with a clear vision: “It’s a beautiful spot and we always felt there was more to be done to release the potential of the site, so we took the plunge,” said Ian.
Delivery — managing a 12-month rebrand
Pulling together a team of freelance creatives, we project-managed the whole shebang, handling visual and word-based branding, photography, press, copywriting, web design, social media training, signage design and an overall marketing strategy. We also suggested a local interior designer. We started with a marketing plan, then took the owners and staff through a brand workshop, crafting a verbal brand guide (and tone of voice) and briefing creatives. We created a new name, sold in a news story to the local press, booked some social media training for the staff and started work on the website. We also coached Sharon and her team through writing for blog content, newsletter and social media.
