Why Tallinn was named Lonely Planet’s Best Value destination 2018

With its capital of Tallinn recently named Lonely Planet’s Best Value destination 2018, Estonia has a wealth of culture and heritage to explore as the country prepares for its year-long celebration of its independence

The year 2018 is a special one for Estonia as the nation prepares to mark its centenary. Numerous events will take place in the capital city Tallinn and throughout the country from 24 February to celebrate the country’s independence.

Situated between Latvia and Finland, with Helsinki just over 50 miles away by sea, Estonia’s First Republic was founded in 1918, and its culture and cuisine are heavily influenced by its Scandinavian, Russian and German neighbours.
