"Kate is great to work with – a really excellent listener who quickly understands the key issues which are important to the brief. [She delivers] excellent content." Renewable energy & property company, Banks Group For many years I was a BBC senior journalist in online and radio, and long before that I worked in professional services in executive pay. My experience as a freelance writer has included writing reports and other content for organisations of all sizes. How does this help you? It means I can quickly get to grips with bags of information and understand what you want from your writing. However big your organisation, I’ll cut to the heart of what you need to say, make every word count, and capture your audience. I can help you with: annual reports, sustainability reports, investor communications, thought leadership, articles, blogs, newsletters, emails, press releases, web copy, proofreading and copy editing. Client testimonials: Alexandra Dunley, head of marketing and communications at construction company Bouygues UK: "Kate is organised, responsive and ensures she fully understands your brief. She understood our tone of voice and produced some brilliant copy. The team were incredibly pleased with Kate’s work, meaning the project was quick and easy. We will definitely be working with Kate again. "Kate managed to interpret huge amounts of technical information and turn it into digestible text that was enjoyable to read and still showcased the magnitude of the project." Robin Winstanley, Sustainability and External Affairs Manager, Banks Group, regarding a report on the community benefits of Banks’ windfarm developments: "Kate is great to work with – a really excellent listener who quickly understands the key issues which are important to the brief. Importantly she is able to build trust and confidence with the key stakeholders involved which results in good relationships and the delivery of excellent content. "Kate met the goals with speed and to a high standard and was able to add an extra dimension to the content with her experience in relating complex - and often fairly dry - business jargon in a simple and relatable way. "In particular, I feel that Kate did a great job managing the relationships with the key contributors to the report. This is especially important to consider for our projects because the key outcomes for the business within this brief was to influence these relationships in a positive way."

Here’s my key selling point. My bread-and-butter skillset. I like talking to people. No jargon, no waffle – just honest-to-goodness conversations about what you have to offer your client base. It’s an invaluable skill. Because if we can convey how beneficial – even transformative – your product or service is, in plain English that packs a punch, you’re on to a winner. Here’s the issue for you, though. Few people can write that adeptly. There’s a knack to turning industry spiel into lively, sparkling copy. See, I’m terrible at all sorts of things. Drawing. Cooking. Competitive sports. False modesty. I am, however, pretty darn good at expressing myself. Give me complex information and I’ll transform it into a reader-friendly blog, or press release, or homepage, or brochure. Maybe a white paper or ebook, if we’re feeling ambitious. Unlike an AI app, I can natter with an executive and instinctively work out what readers will like about their product. With a reporter’s doggedness, I’ll sniff out the information I need, then serve it to readers in a way that holds their attention. Heck, I’ll even throw in some well-placed jokes if you like. If you’re a SaaS business or fintech firm that’s reaching out to customers, for instance, or anyone in the market for case studies, white papers or a ghostwriter, then I’m ideal. The strange part is, I’m a physics graduate. Half of me’s precise and analytical, so I’m a diligent, methodical researcher with an eye for detail. Oh, and an information sponge. The other half, meanwhile, is a bit arty, a bit creative. I mean, I wrote an acclaimed book about Orwell that readers singled out for its jaunty prose. Mix these elements together and what do you get? More sales! Those wonderful conversions you dream about! Because who wants to trudge through boring content from a wordsmith with a “that’ll do” attitude? As a writer and editor, I’ve been intimately acquainted with brevity, clarity and accuracy for three decades now. A turning point came in 2010 when I joined CNBC Business magazine in London. When I wasn’t writing features, I was rewriting our international correspondents’ articles in colloquial English. More recently, I’ve used this skill to research and write advertorial supplements, executive interviews, thought leadership pieces, case studies and news stories for Elite Business magazine. Not to mention high-profile advertorial sites for CNBC! So, what are you waiting for? Let’s yack!

Hello, I'm Hannah, a doctor turned copywriter. I currently work for companies in the health, health tech, pharmaceutical and charity sector. My clinical background puts me in a great position to provide accurate, evidence-based medical information and advice to audiences via copy written for websites, apps, brochures, email newsletters, social campaigns and journal articles. MY STORY I originally trained as a doctor and worked across hospital wards and in general practice for several years before becoming a medical copywriter. To gain experience, I wrote copy for clients across all sectors, including transport, construction, lifestyle and fashion, and I still love getting stuck into a writing project outside the medical sector. I was awarded a Copywriting Diploma with distinction, and now work full time as a copywriter. For the last year I have been writing and editing for an award-winning healthcare technology company, alongside smaller projects in FemTech, mental health, personal and professional growth. My flexible, friendly services include content creation, articles, blog writing, SEO website content, tone of voice, editing and proofreading. My mission is to simplify your customer’s journey towards your solutions. In the beginning: I’ve always been fascinated with human behaviour, especially why people do things and how actions can be positively influenced. Working in the Travel Industry, this fascination helped me offer unique and personalised experiences - and won me awards for my customer service. It also fuelled my journey to a BSc (Hons) in Psychology. But then… After all of that Academic writing, I became frustrated with big words and jargon and developed a passion for easy-to-follow plain English. While working for a major trade show in the Meetings & Events industry, I made it my mission to simplify the sales journey for exhibitors – my clients.  I worked with the marketing team to re-write manuals, web copy, presentations and email campaigns to help my clients get the best from their time exhibiting -  and they loved it.  There began my passion for Copywriting.    Now: Today, I am a qualified, professional freelance copywriter and copy editor.  I write all sorts of web and social media content and printed materials.  My clients are local to Brighton, East Sussex, as well as scattered throughout the UK and Europe. I also love hiking in nature, gardening, Pilates, creative writing and cooking.  All of these keep me happy, healthy, creative and motivated. Ready to write? If you want help getting your message across, contact me. I’d love to hear how your business helps people.

Copywriter. Storyteller. Content Creator. I am a freelance copywriter based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. I love words. I love using words to create emotion, and to engage people and interest them. This is exactly how I can help your business. Trusting someone to create a great first impression for your business isn’t easy, so a big part of what I do is connecting with the people behind the businesses that I write for. If I understand you, I can tell the story of your business and your brand in a way that reflects your unique style and values. What I can do for your business I specialise in writing engaging and informative blog posts, website content, articles, press releases, case studies, email campaigns, social media posts and much more to help you attract the right customers and keep them coming back. The boring (but necessary) bits… I have experience of writing across a variety of different platforms including the local press, industry journals, websites, and social media. My published work has appeared in industry journals and an anthology. My clients are a mix of small to medium businesses, all from different industries. I love the variety of my work, and the amount of research I have to do on different topics means I’m pretty good at pub quizzes! A bit about me When I’m not at my laptop, I love going to the gym, walking, and relaxing with a good book. Stephen King is my favourite author of all time, though his work is a little different from mine!

“I’ve always enjoyed writing but I didn’t set up on my own account until 2019. At that point I had been teaching for nearly two decades and had become frustrated with the academy trust to which my then school belonged. I took a plunge and set up as a freelance writer.”

Jo Watson

“I wish we were all more honest when speaking to newer or younger copywriters and telling them what to expect in their career. It’s a hard job, it’s constantly evolving, and it’s still nowhere near as widely respected (as both an art and a science) as it should be.”

Abby King

“Let your work breathe. While it’s tempting to send over to the client once a piece is ready, I try to give it at least 24 hours (where time allows!) before I go back in, review and send.”

Sophie Lain

“My manager at graze told me to think about every meeting as money, so an hour’s meeting with five people is five hours of company money. Is it worth it?”
