Standards Committee
The volunteers behind The Copywriter Code.
The Copywriter Code exists because working copywriters took the time to define what good practice looks like. The Standards Committee is the group responsible for developing, maintaining, and evolving the Code.
Committee members are volunteers who care about raising standards in our profession. They're not paid for this work — they do it because they believe professional copywriters deserve better infrastructure.
What the Committee does
The Standards Committee is responsible for:
- Developing and refining the Code of Practice, Code of Conduct, and Competency Framework
- Reviewing member feedback and suggestions for improvements
- Ensuring the Code stays current with industry developments
- Reviewing complaints about potential breaches
- Advising ProCopywriters on professional standards matters
How the Committee works
The Committee is chaired by a member who coordinates activities and ensures progress. Members contribute remotely, with periodic meetings to discuss significant decisions.
Decisions are made collectively, with the Chair having a casting vote where needed. The Committee operates independently but works closely with ProCopywriters to ensure the Code serves the membership.
Time commitment: approximately 2 hours per month.
