Accreditation

Formal recognition of your professional competence. Coming 2027.

Subscribing to The Copywriter Code shows your commitment to professional standards. But we know many copywriters want to go further — to have their skills and experience formally recognised.

That's why we're developing an accreditation scheme. This page explains our plans and how you can help shape them.

Expected launch: 2027
The accreditation scheme is currently in development. Register your interest below to stay informed and have your say.

What accreditation will mean

Accreditation will provide independent verification that a copywriter meets defined standards of competence and professionalism. Unlike simply subscribing to the Code (which is a commitment), accreditation will be earned through assessment.

We're planning multiple accreditation levels to recognise copywriters at different career stages, from those establishing their professional practice to highly experienced specialists.

Proposed structure

We're considering a tiered structure with three levels of accreditation. The exact names and requirements are still being finalised, but broadly:

Foundation level

For copywriters who can demonstrate solid professional competence and commitment to the Code.

Professional level

For experienced copywriters with a strong track record and evidence of ongoing development.

Fellow level

For senior professionals who have made a significant contribution to the profession.

How assessment will work

Assessment will combine self-assessment with evidence of experience and professional development. We want the process to be thorough but not burdensome — recognising the skills you've already built rather than creating artificial hoops to jump through.

Assessment criteria will be based on our Competency Framework, which defines the skills, knowledge, and behaviours expected of professional copywriters across 11 specialisms.

Fees

Accreditation fees will be in the range of £200–£450, depending on the level. Final pricing will be confirmed before launch.

We're committed to keeping accreditation accessible while covering the costs of rigorous, independent assessment.

Benefits of accreditation

Accredited copywriters will receive:

  • A digital accreditation badge for your website and profiles
  • Use of post-nominal letters recognising your level
  • Enhanced listing in the ProCopywriters directory
  • Independent verification that clients and employers can trust
  • A framework for continuing professional development
