Elvy Court Care Home, Sittingbourne

This residential home in Kent takes care of people who have dementia or who need respite care or end of life care, so the work has to be carefully planned to minimise inconvenience.

Renovations are taking place in all of the key areas including the 55 bedrooms, reception, dining and day rooms. A new cinema has been created and nurses’ stations and corridors have been upgraded.

Scholars Mews Care Home, Stratford-Upon-Avon

Over nine months all the key areas were carefully renovated to minimise disruption of inconvenience for residents and staff. This 1980s office complex was refurbished to provide 14 office suites over four stories. It was redesigned to provide high specification, open plan media-style office suite accommodation.

ECO2LEC was commissioned to provide electrical services as part of the refurbishment. The project took six months to complete and included power supply, office and communal lighting, data and a fire alarm system.

Silvermere Care Home, Cobham

Milton Court Care Home, Milton Keynes

Milton Court in Buckinghamshire provides residential and dementia care as well as nursing and respite care. Following its acquisition by Avery Healthcare it continued to provide a high quality service during a year-long full renovation project that included all 148 bedrooms.

Work progressed over one floor at a time and included new nurses’ stations, drug stores, a café, serveries and a cinema as well as upgrades to bedrooms, wet rooms and day rooms.

Derek Goodman, Construction Manager at Avery Healthcare says: “It’s important for us to maintain our properties to the highest standards, but it’s also important to remember that they are also people’s homes and workplaces. It can be really difficult to complete work with consideration for everyone’s needs and comfort.

“We have been working with ECO2LEC for several years now because they understand our needs. They have always delivered consistently very high standards of work. More importantly, they always go the extra mile to make sure that inconvenience and disruption are kept to a minimum.”

Core Management Logistics (CML) is a privately owned supply chain company with its head offices and distribution centre at Lutterworth in Leicestershire. The company has built its reputation for bespoke solutions for retail warehousing and distribution over the last 20 years. This 10-week project to reconfigure part of the distribution centre was completed in two phases to minimise disruption to operations.

In Phase One existing lighting was relocated and additional high bay lighting was installed to suit new racking layouts. Phase Two was a full electrical fit out of a picking mezzanine over three floors.

The installation included 700 LED vapour-proof light fittings and over 2km of Zucchini lighting busbar, power and data infrastructure. We also installed conveyor power supplies and control wiring, emergency lighting and a fire detection system.

Union Building, Aldershot

This Grade II listed building in Hampshire originally dates back to 1629, so the renovation and conversion had to be sensitive to its history.

The full conversion took place over almost a year. It included electrical installation for eight apartments in the north block and nine apartments in the south block, along with all the communal areas.

Page 23 Domestic: Case 3

Rosebank, Church Brampton

This new luxury five-bedroom property is close to the Althorp Estate in Northamptonshire.

The electrical installation featured a full Rako intelligent lighting system with state-of-the-art digital dimming technology. Power, mechanical supplies and control wiring, ventilation, telephone, data and WiFi systems were all included in the installation, along with a Google Nest home detection and alarm system and a cinema room.

Pete Anderson, Site Manager for the project on behalf of Seagrave Developments says: “This is the biggest private house we’ve built so it was important to work with the right contractors. ECO2LEC’s work is clean and tidy and they are very trustworthy. They were spot-on throughout and are really good at working with other trades like the plumbers, for example.

“It’s really impressive how technology has been used to really future-proof the property. There’s even an app for the lighting system so that the owners can control it, wherever they are. It’s all pretty clever stuff.”
