‘Til The Cows Come Home is an Australian organisation that transforms the lives of unwanted farm animals through rescuing, rehoming, and promoting a kinder world.

This piece was written to show the plight of unwanted male calves, who are usually sent to slaughter when they are just days old. The featured calf sadly didn’t make it, but the appeal highlighted the need for donors to help these rescues continue, so that suffering animals don’t die alone, having never known love.

I chose to write about Benjamin as I felt it was important to show donors the reality of rescue work, while emphasising that their support still makes the biggest difference, even in cases like this.
