Weston College is one of the leading further education establishments in the west of England. To reflect its standing in the region and reach out to its expanding target audience, the college's website underwent a major re-design. My task was to produce content for the new site, including landing pages aimed at the college's key audience - school leavers, undergraduates and adult students.
PDFI came up with the concept, interviewed students and wrote copy for this college campaign. It shows how former students have gone on to successful careers after progressing through the college. The profiles were used in the college's prospectus and on posters, which were displayed in each campus.
PDFI have ten years’ experience as a journalist, including five as sports editor of a regional newspaper – the Somerset County Gazette. I was responsible for writing and editing sports stories, features and match reports. This included finding new angles for stories, researching articles and carrying out interviews. This experience has allowed me to develop into a highly proficient sports writer, able to find and produce appealing articles that give readers an extra insight.
Weston College publishes an annual undergraduate prospectus to recruit students to its degree courses and promote itself as a higher education provider. I produced copy for the 2014 prospectus and edited the course information.
ICE is one of the world's leading civil engineering institutions. As part of a website re-launch, ICE wanted to make its information clearer and more engaging. I worked with stakeholders in ICE's membership division to produce text for qualifications, careers and progression pages, regional sections, profiles and membership guidance documents.
Stream is an IT recruitment consultancy which recruits staff for businesses across the UK and Europe. I was asked to develop a structure and write copy for Stream's new website. I worked with senior directors to understand the business, establish a tone of voice and draft accessible content to appeal to Stream's key audiences - employers and job seekers.
