A comprehensive survey of our profession

ProCopywriters Survey 2020

Key findings:

  • Income and day rates increased
  • Gender pay gap remains significant
  • More copywriters are specialising in disciplines like SEO and digital

Just before the world flipped upside-down, 640 copywriters told us about their life, work and hopes for the future.

This report is the result.

The survey was open throughout January 2020, before anyone knew what ‘lockdown’ meant. These results are broadly consistent with previous years, which supports the general validity of our findings.

One significant change is the leap in average day rates. After hovering around the £350 mark for several years, the average day rate has risen to £379.
