I write great copy that engages your audience. With more than 25 years' experience in marketing and PR I can help you to find your voice, communicate your brand, build your audience and sell your product or service. I've been freelancing for the last ten years, working with a range of clients in B2B, B2C and charity organisations. Recent clients include government departments, renewable energy companies, SaaS providers, estate and lettings agents, cancer and childrens' charities and utility providers. For some of those clients I've written a brochure, report, website or email marketing campaign, for others I provide a full marketing and social media management service. I'd love to help you craft your message and bring your brand to life. Give me a call, or drop me a message and let's chat about what you need. Much of my work is covered by non-disclosure agreements (NDAs)so can't be featured in my portfolio. Some of my other recent projects are shown below. I like to let my customers do the talking, so here's what some have said about my work: 'I rarely come across real talents that stand out like Jo. I have had the pleasure of working with her company for six years at South Staffs, collaborating on several projects. Jo has a genuinely unique ability and flair when she’s been providing communications services on critical business projects. She has outstanding proficiency and skills in this area, which is what makes a fantastic communications architect, colleague and unquestionably the type of person you want spreading the message to the business.' Dharmender Rai, Head of Project Services, South Staffordshire PLC ‘Jo understands how to develop a strong brand or corporate reputation and use it to deliver powerful communications. I have worked with her for more than 15 years on a variety of marketing communications and PR projects and she consistently delivers excellent results. She is a good strategist and manages stakeholders effectively.’ Paul Whitehouse, Managing Director, Whitehouse Mainwaring ‘Jo is an extremely effective communications professional who is both strategic and practical. Although it was a few years ago I remember her saying that effective PR has to be new, true and interesting. In charities and business generally creating profile for the brand and turning this into value is important. Jo knows how to do this and how to help others do it.’ Clive Wright, Chief Executive, Shropshire Council

I’m Jordan Duguid, a professional freelance copywriter and content writer based in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire (about an hour outside of London). Having worked in the financial services industry for a number of years, I know how to boil down complex topics and products into simple, easy-to-understand copy. I’ve worked as a Copywriter and Content Executive as part of an in-house team so I know how to navigate projects of varying scale, urgency and format. I studied English Language and Literature with the Open University, with an emphasis on creative writing. Following this, I achieved a Foundation Certificate in Marketing with Distinction through the Chartered Institute of Marketing, where I’m also an Affiliate Member. I’ve also completed many copywriting and content management courses through both the CIM and the IDM.

  • Founder of Black Rose Copy. I use captivating words for your audience, compelling them to take action and making your business bloom.

  • Working in Cornwall, I've developed a specialism writing for small and medium-sized businesses, producing web content, product descriptions, leaflets, newsletters, social media strategies (and the occasional post) plus posters, adverts and other bits and pieces. My clients are from a variety of sectors, including hospitality, weddings, food, craft, and the service industry, as well as a couple of charities. The common feature is that they're busy people, looking to get the best out of their websites and other written materials, and without the skills or time to manage that themselves. I can also edit and proofread clients' own work, which can make an all-round approach to a project, for instance writing the website's main text, and editing a how-to section, written by in-house experts. Personally, my interests are varied, and include cooking, the outdoors, history, music, singing, and the environment.

“I am at my best in the morning, so I try to schedule all creative tasks before lunch. If I’m struggling in the morning, I use the classic strategies of changing where I’m working from, taking a break, or exercising in the hope of a Eureka moment.”

Declan Morton, Copywriter.Declan Morton

“I’ve always enjoyed writing but I didn’t set up on my own account until 2019. At that point I had been teaching for nearly two decades and had become frustrated with the academy trust to which my then school belonged. I took a plunge and set up as a freelance writer.”

Jo Watson

“I wish we were all more honest when speaking to newer or younger copywriters and telling them what to expect in their career. It’s a hard job, it’s constantly evolving, and it’s still nowhere near as widely respected (as both an art and a science) as it should be.”

Abby King

“Let your work breathe. While it’s tempting to send over to the client once a piece is ready, I try to give it at least 24 hours (where time allows!) before I go back in, review and send.”
