I'm an experienced copywriter, having written for many different companies, including the Co-Op, Slater and Gordon LLP, and Claims Direct. I've been a freelancer but am currently an in-house writer for an accountancy education provider. I manage a team of web editors, work closely with UX design, and oversee any words coming out of the marketing department.

Currently taking on freelance work. I’ve been writing copy for 8 years, and I cut my teeth working in-house for some of the UK’s biggest brands. So if you’re after a freelance copywriter who can write words for pretty much anything, I’m your woman. From toasters and washing machines, to cots, cupcakes and kettles, I’ve found the words to make all kinds of products sing. Born and bred in Manchester, I’m now based in Huddersfield - perfectly placed for clients across the North West, Yorkshire and beyond. From Manchester and Leeds to Sheffield and Liverpool, I can meet locally for coffee and a chat about your content, or even go global with a video call if you’re further afield. rebeccaramshawcopywriter.com

My copywriting journey, greatly influenced by my personal experience as a medical cannabis patient, has led me to specialise in the health and wellness sector. After completing my studies in English and Journalism at Manchester University, I further honed my skills by obtaining a Certificate in Professional Copywriting from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM). Transitioning to freelance copywriting in 2019, I delved into a range of subjects, notably medical cannabis, where I brought together my personal insights and professional research capabilities. This unique perspective allowed me to create content that was not only informative but also empathetic and engaging. My work resonates with audiences seeking genuine, informed views on medical cannabis and holistic health and wellness.

It’s not easy writing about yourself, I’m usually much happier writing for others, but I’m here to tell you about me and my business… I’ve been writing professionally for a few years now. My company is called Initial Words Copywriting and Proofreading, and I am based in Urmston in Manchester. I started my career as a media officer at Lancashire County Cricket Club and after a few seasons of looking after the press box and media releases, I decided that I wanted a change. Jump forward a few years and I am here in Urmston sharing offices with a pair of web developers, a marketing consultant and a social media company, and we have formed a type of co-op. We work together often and it’s useful to have other industry experts on hand! I think if I was to share one of the most important skills I’ve learned over my career it is to learn to listen to your client. To be able to write in your client’s voice, you have to listen to them first and understand what their brand message is. Without that, you are just writing your own words, not being a copywriter. I love listening. What sort of services do I offer? I try not to specialise in just one area. Carrying out different sorts of writing means that I can understand different types of voices and tones, and I like to turn my hand to many industries. Blogs Editing Proofreading SEO and content optimisation Product descriptions Setting up and managing WooCommerce WordPress website administration Newsletters Press releases Website content Social media profiles App content Brochure and leaflet content Interview skills Enough about me! If you would like to learn more about my content service please do get in touch or message through www.initialwords.co.uk and I’ll get the kettle on.

“I love seeing my work out in the world. Knowing my work was being seen by some of its 300,000 followers and seeing them engage with it, was a great feeling”
“Fill your time and inspiration board with conferences, podcasts and reading. These will always give you confidence, connections with peers and a glimpse of what thought leadership looks like.”
“I am at my best in the morning, so I try to schedule all creative tasks before lunch. If I’m struggling in the morning, I use the classic strategies of changing where I’m working from, taking a break, or exercising in the hope of a Eureka moment.”
