  • I'm a copyeditor, proofreader and trainer who used to work in marketing communications for a large educational awarding body. These days I'm a tutor for Publishing Scotland and the Publishing Training Centre and I offer copyediting-based coaching to people and organisations who want to make their writing clear and consistent. I also write resources for editors and proofreaders on behalf of the CIEP and through my own business. I've joined ProCopywriters because I'm interested in improving my own writing and helping other people to improve theirs.

  • Hello Before becoming a freelance copywriter, I worked as a journalist and in a business psychology consultancy. These experiences have proved invaluable when it comes to understanding what makes a company tick and writing persuasive branding materials and marketing communications. I enjoy writing compelling copy that conveys key messages as well as an organisation's personality. Recently, I've written a brochure for Save the Children, web content for City University, case studies for Deloitte and brand stories for a Somerset cider company. I also run writing workshops. If you like the sound of this, do get in touch and let's see how we could work together.

  • North Wales based copywriter, human resources/ training professional & proofreader. I provide specialist HR & business writing plus a full range of copywriting services.

“I am at my best in the morning, so I try to schedule all creative tasks before lunch. If I’m struggling in the morning, I use the classic strategies of changing where I’m working from, taking a break, or exercising in the hope of a Eureka moment.”

“I’ve always enjoyed writing but I didn’t set up on my own account until 2019. At that point I had been teaching for nearly two decades and had become frustrated with the academy trust to which my then school belonged. I took a plunge and set up as a freelance writer.”

Jo Watson

“I wish we were all more honest when speaking to newer or younger copywriters and telling them what to expect in their career. It’s a hard job, it’s constantly evolving, and it’s still nowhere near as widely respected (as both an art and a science) as it should be.”

Abby King

“Let your work breathe. While it’s tempting to send over to the client once a piece is ready, I try to give it at least 24 hours (where time allows!) before I go back in, review and send.”
