I'm a freelance senior copywriter, one hour from central London, working with marketers and advertising agencies around the world. I create sales copy, web content and campaigns. During two plus decades at top London agencies I've written for healthcare, travel, automotive and much more. With results like 2.7m Facebook story impressions in under three weeks for Tourism Ireland. I’ve delivered over 1000 projects in 17 markets, reaching audiences of 5m plus. I rewrote a website for breast cancer patients, increasing traffic by 38%. The new site won a ‘best practice’ award and became the client's benchmark for online patient support. From this project I learned how design, UX, and copywriting can seamlessly support each other. Prior to healthcare I honed my skills in B2C and B2B, for clients as diverse as Rolex and General Electric. I cut my teeth in traditional media, but have a passion for digital - having written extensively for social media and content marketing. This career experience gives me a deeper understanding of how to truly connect communications across channels. For example, I wrote a set of case studies for the UK’s largest property management company. Working with a team of five including another copywriter, a designer and the marketing manager we developed a Direct Mail and AdWords campaign. This led to a 23% increase in company site traffic, 1000+ case studies downloaded and a 14% increase in new business enquiries over 6 months. In my spare time I love renovating classic cars and motorbikes. The attention to detail, problem solving and concentration this demands helps to bring laser-like focus to my copywriting!

I’m a freelance copywriter based in Nottingham. I’ve been a writer of various stripes for more than 30 years, mostly for BT and its many brands. As senior copywriter and a founding member of BT’s in-house creative marketing agency, I wrote for consumer, business, public sector, and internal audiences across the BT Group, Business, EE, and Consumer brands. Before that, I spent five years as the senior copywriter and site editor for BT Business Digital, where I wrote and edited copy covering the entire digital customer experience from website content to order journeys, billing to marketing emails, with many diversions along the way. I’ve written and edited reports and brochures, marketing and social content, digital and direct marketing, customer comms, film and animation scripts, posters and press ads, blogs and infographics, websites, landing pages, tooltips, and order journey micro-copy. Free range copywriter: I love writing travel and tourism pieces, and editorial features about lovely products – but having said that - I’ve also written care labels for goalkeeping gloves and a ‘how to’ guide to damp proofing your basement, so let’s not rule anything out. I’ve been a PR and Copywriter since I fell into a job at a busy marketing agency that advertised for a journalist. I was neither a copywriter or a journalist, but it turned out I was pretty good! I soon became the PR and Copywriting Manager and worked there for about nine years, becoming self-employed when my son was born in 2017. Before I worked at the marketing agency, I was an advertorial feature writer for a luxury lifestyle magazine. And before that (after doing my combined English Degree at Lancaster Uni) I was a temp. But that’s a story for another time.
