Free range copywriter: I love writing travel and tourism pieces, and editorial features about lovely products – but having said that - I’ve also written care labels for goalkeeping gloves and a ‘how to’ guide to damp proofing your basement, so let’s not rule anything out. I’ve been a PR and Copywriter since I fell into a job at a busy marketing agency that advertised for a journalist. I was neither a copywriter or a journalist, but it turned out I was pretty good! I soon became the PR and Copywriting Manager and worked there for about nine years, becoming self-employed when my son was born in 2017. Before I worked at the marketing agency, I was an advertorial feature writer for a luxury lifestyle magazine. And before that (after doing my combined English Degree at Lancaster Uni) I was a temp. But that’s a story for another time.

Before I tell you about me, here's what someone else has to say... "If you need a competent and creative writer, Jenny is your person. It sounds obvious I know, but actually finding someone who does exactly what you’ve asked them to do well, is really hard! I approached Jenny for help bringing to life a new brand through website content. She listened to my requirements and immersed herself in our brand guidelines. She asked lots of questions and spent time with other colleagues to make sure she understood our business and new brand. As a result, she produced engaging content and took some pressure off me. I really liked Jenny’s ability to interpret what I’d said and the brand guidelines. Lots of people say they can do this but actually it’s very difficult to find someone who delivers, and does it quickly. It’s always difficult taking the decision to outsource work, and particularly for a project as important as rebranding. Working with Jenny was easy!” Anna Goodship, Marketing & Communications Manager, The Futures Group - www.the-futures-group.com A bit about me... I write results-focused copy for socially conscious businesses and charities. Put simply, I help you build your brand, grow your bottom line and make a bigger difference. What do I know about copywriting? Before starting Jenny Wing Copywriting in 2017, I spent more than 15 years working in a range of marketing and communications roles where I developed concepts, delivered campaigns and created powerful copy that helped businesses grow. I put my marketing and copywriting skills to the test in several not-for-profits too where I raised over £10m to fund life-changing projects. When the time was right to forge my own path, I chose to create a business that allows me to do what I love, and do best. My copywriting experience spans small not-for-profits to national charities, owner-managed businesses to global companies and membership organisations to local authorities. I’ve written for manufacturers, professional services, FMCG, leisure, tourism, health, education, medical, retail, recruitment, tech and more besides. Your copy is underpinned by my marketing experience so you get more then just well-written words to give you confidence in your communications. What can I help you with? Digital-ready copy: Web copy | SEO copywriting | Email campaigns | Landing pages Designed for the way we search, browse and buy online. Traditional copy: Brochures | Newsletters | Editorial Page-turning headlines and ‘can’t put it down’ copy to tempt customers and win clients. I started out in the communications field 20 years ago, writing and editing in traditional book publishing. Then the internet happened. In the heady days of the early 2000s I was working solely on digital projects for a small specialist start-up. We were a small team, so I had the opportunity to work across all aspects of digital comms, from writing to design to technical to marketing. We eventually morphed into a large international STM publisher, and I was focussed solely on producing and marketing high-end educational and promotional products. I’ve gained a ton of experience and insight into the various aspects of websites, apps and all manner of digital comms products, but in the end I wanted to get back to the story. I don’t work in any particular niches, and I like the variety that provides. In the end it comes down to solid copywriting technique and knowing what’s required for a particular kind of job. It has to be good writing, and it has to be the right kind of writing, to get the engagement and pull readers “across the line”. That’s what I focus on. I’m insanely curious and am happiest when I’m learning something new. I’m even happier when I’m getting paid to write about it! Put me to work on any topic, and I’ll do you proud. I know a lot about a number of fields: writing, editing, marketing, design, digital development, what makes a successful digital product or service, how to translate technobabble, what makes effective sales and marketing materials, press releases, blog posts, in-depth content marketing pieces, content discovery, SEO essentials and a whole lot more. And I’m a dab hand at Wordpress, so if you’re a small business looking to set up a package of communications essentials, I’ve got you covered. Website + content + SEO + social media… and all the little technical bits involved. Beyond these, my interests include: productivity, mental health & mindfulness, lifestyle, travel, food, sustainable brands and living, drawing and printmaking, photography, music, film, theatre, aviation, dogs, social issues and a touch of politics. I know what clients need. I know how to make their lives easier. Beyond top-notch writing, it means delivering what’s needed at the right time and cost, and open communication. And if I can bring my wealth of experience to any other aspects of your comms work beyond the words, I will help you. Get in touch to find out more or talk about a project you have in mind.

“I am at my best in the morning, so I try to schedule all creative tasks before lunch. If I’m struggling in the morning, I use the classic strategies of changing where I’m working from, taking a break, or exercising in the hope of a Eureka moment.”

Declan Morton, Copywriter.Declan Morton

“I’ve always enjoyed writing but I didn’t set up on my own account until 2019. At that point I had been teaching for nearly two decades and had become frustrated with the academy trust to which my then school belonged. I took a plunge and set up as a freelance writer.”

Jo Watson

“I wish we were all more honest when speaking to newer or younger copywriters and telling them what to expect in their career. It’s a hard job, it’s constantly evolving, and it’s still nowhere near as widely respected (as both an art and a science) as it should be.”

Abby King

“Let your work breathe. While it’s tempting to send over to the client once a piece is ready, I try to give it at least 24 hours (where time allows!) before I go back in, review and send.”
