Hi, I’m Carys, the founder of This Girl Talks. My career has been shaped by a passion for communication, storytelling, and service. Beyond my professional work, I volunteer with Mountain Rescue, responding to emergencies in some of the UK’s most challenging environments, and serve as a Magistrate, making decisions that help shape and support my local community. I spent 8 years working in professional sport, a fast-paced, high-pressure world that taught me the importance of clarity and connection in communication. From there, I embarked on a remarkable 16-year career with the Royal Family, crafting speeches, briefings, and video messages for His Majesty King Charles III and the Prince and Princess of Wales. This experience sharpened my skills in creating impactful, polished content for a wide range of audiences and occasions. Now, through This Girl Talks, I’m bringing my expertise to businesses and brands, offering services in copywriting, blogging, and social media content creation. Whether you’re looking to connect with your audience, share your story, or elevate your brand, I’m here to help make your words work harder for you. Let’s create something extraordinary together!

Whether you're looking for a solid copy editor or creative lead, I can help - I have lots of experience with idea generation and pitching, as well as stakeholder engagement, budget and line management. I get especially excited by projects involving human rights, climate action, supporting young people, and/or books and literacy.

Word Craft: website copywriting & blog support for service-based businesses & creative entrepreneurs
As a UX copywriter, offering web copywriting services, I write words that resonate with your ideal client in a way that makes sense to them so that hitting that “book now” or “sign up” button is natural. Expect a research-based strategy-focused approach, and a lot of chat about how words and design go hand-in-hand for a high quality user experience. Choose from full done-for-you website copywriting and blog writing services or budget friendly support options for those who wish to DIY. A typical website copy project includes: • In-depth research of your business – copy project kick-off questionnaire, 4 x 15 mins voice of customer interviews, competitor analysis, brand voice development. • UX website strategy – guidance on what pages are needed, what the flow of each page and the entire website should look like, and what key information is needed and where. • SEO keyword research and on-page optimisation – to help people find you on Google. • Research summary – delivered at projection completion to help you in shaping your marketing strategy (you’ll have ready-to-use snippets of copy to use in social media captions). • 6 pages of website copy – e.g. Home, About, 1-3 Services pages, Contact, Portfolio (strategy stage will determine the exact needs for your business). • SEO optimised title tags and meta descriptions – to help people click through to you in the search results. • Fully formatted copy wireframe to guide your website designer with design and layout for each page – you’ll get clear information about where headings, lists, buttons etc go. • One page mocked up as a web page (PDF) – to allow you to see the flow of information and visualise how the words can come to life on your website. • Support to help you provide me with effective feedback – you’ll get detailed notes to help you understand the wireframed copy, a support document with examples of ‘copy in design’, and a guided ‘walk through’ call of the copy after the first draft is written. • 2 rounds of amendments – to ensure you are 100% happy. • Support during the website build / design stage – I’ll liaise with your website designer so that they can speak to me if there are queries or if tweaks are needed during the website build and copy input process. I’ll review your site from a UX perspective before it goes live. Check out examples of work: https://wordcraftservices.co.uk/portfolio/

I help brands find their voice, articulate their message and connect with their audience. Before becoming a freelancer, I was a (rather exacting) client. I used to be Head of Digital for some blue-chip brands, so ROI is never far from my mind as I put words through their paces. I’m fluent in all things digital, and I love collaborating with developers and designers to create content with impact. My side-hustle is sociolinguistics and my research is published in the journal Gender and Language. That means I’m just as happy conducting in-depth research and communicating complex ideas as I am writing killer UX copy. As a seasoned freelancer and contractor, I bring all my expertise and experience to each new project, whether that’s writing for a heritage brand or creating a launch strategy for a start-up.

Hiya! First of all, thanks for getting this far. It means me looking all 'deer in the headlights' in my profile photo didn't put you off. That's comforting to know. Now that you're here, let's talk copywriting. Why should you choose me over the 800+ other copywriters in the directory? You'd be taking a chance, for sure. But not a huge chance. I’ve been a copywriter since 2011, writing all kinds of words for all kinds of businesses - some big, some small, some you might you have heard of, some you almost certainly haven't. So I've got experience on my side. I've also not been found out yet, which means I must be doing something right. A copywriter who writes for businesses and has yet to be labelled an imposter. How about that for a tag line. It just screams 'take a chance', doesn't it? Doesn't it? Okay, here's how it is... I'm relying on you picking up some kind of vibe from this. The kind of vibe that makes you want to learn more or get in touch. If you're feeling a bit learn-moreish, there’s a link for my website below. There's more about me and the people I’ve worked with there. If you're feeling get-in-touchy, my phone number is below, along with a handy blue contact button that lets you email me. Speak soon. Maybe. Cheers.
