I turned complex data into user-focused content for the Cabinet Office, Universal Credit and Cancer Research UK. Let me do the same for you. ”Thank you for your outstanding post on trauma-informed content and AI. Just excellent work!” Kristina Halvorson, CEO & Founder of Button Events and Brain Traffic - widely recognised as one of the most important voices in content strategy and UX For over three decades, I've crafted content that cuts through complexity and meets people where they are, whether they're reporting having their drink spiked at 3am, claiming benefits while juggling childcare or searching for cancer treatment information during the most frightening time of their lives. My work has transformed government services, healthcare information and crisis support systems that touch millions of lives. What sets me apart I've spent my career at the intersection of complex systems and human vulnerability. As the first lead content designer for Universal Credit, I eliminated 70% of housing benefit questions by challenging every piece of data collection: "Do we really need to ask this? What happens if we don't?" When communities needed flood defence funding, I transformed a 350-column spreadsheet that nobody could complete correctly into an intuitive online journey that helped people protect their communities. For cancer patients, I created information pathways that respected both their medical and emotional journeys, giving them control over what they engaged with and when. My commitment has always been to the people using services, not to making systems appear successful when they're failing their users. This sometimes means being the uncomfortable voice in the room, like when I advocated for elderly farmers who were struggling with digital systems during the Rural Payments fiasco that ultimately led to a public inquiry. AI and technology in content creation As a regular writer on AI's impact on content design, I navigate the evolving relationship between human expertise and technological advancement. I evaluate AI tools, rethink digital transformation processes in an AI-driven world and explore the optimal balance between automation and human creativity. My experience implementing AI-assisted processes within content teams has shown me where technology excels and where human judgement remains essential. This perspective is particularly valuable for organisations looking to integrate AI tools while maintaining content quality, brand voice and regulatory compliance. With my journalistic background (where I was quoted by the Wall Street Journal just three months after starting as a business editor), I bring a data-informed, analytical approach to content that ensures measurable outcomes - from increased conversion and completion rates to improved user satisfaction and retention. What I've learned about humans and systems Trust must be earned before information can be received. This is especially true for services related to welfare, policing and healthcare, where historical mistrust creates barriers before the first word is read. I have conducted hundreds of hours of user research across diverse audiences. The questions people don't ask often matter more than those they do. Successful content design requires understanding what people are afraid to say, what they don't know they don't know, and what they assume about a service. That is especially important in trauma-informed content, like I created for Cancer Research UK and the Met Police. First-time-right isn't a luxury; it's essential. When someone is reporting domestic abuse or applying for benefits to feed their children, they need systems that work the first time. There may not be a second chance. Cognitive load is unequally distributed. People facing crisis, poverty, illness or trauma have diminished capacity for complexity, not because they're less capable but because their cognitive resources are already stretched. Simplicity in these contexts isn't just good practice; it's an act of compassion. Content at scale and global contexts My experience leading large-scale content transformations - from restructuring Cancer Research UK's 5,000-page information architecture to coordinating content across multiple government departments - has equipped me with strategies for maintaining consistency and quality across complex content ecosystems. I understand how content needs vary across cultures, languages and regulatory environments. This sensitivity to global context ensures content that resonates with diverse audiences while meeting specific regional requirements - essential for organisations operating internationally. Beyond content design My versatility extends beyond traditional content design. I can step in with graphic design, audio and video editing when resources are limited. I've eliminated the need for external SEO agencies by mastering search optimisation myself. Let's talk I'm interested in projects where I can continue to make life better for millions through content that truly serves human needs, whether that's through traditional content design, AI-enhanced processes or global content strategy. I'd love to talk to you if that aligns with your organisation's mission. Based in London and Narbonne, France.

I'm a content marketing writer with a background in London business journalism. One of my main talents is to rewrite websites in plain English, in an engaging style so that visitors' eyes don't glaze over. My niches include finance, entertainment and travel, but I'm versatile enough to write about any firm you choose. Check out the portfolio page on my website. My clients include international private equity firms and the broadcaster CNBC, which commissioned me to write website advertorials for the Abu Dhabi government. The companies featured aren't famous, but do make up a typical cross-section of British industry. "Like a sponge, he absorbed my website. Then with brevity and clarity, infused it with The David 'Ryanesque' Touch." - John Dearden, Manchester engraver "Best investment for any business." - Natalia Barbour, Bureau Arcturus, Guildford

I’m India, a freelance copywriter with over a decade’s worth of experience in SEO and content marketing. I’ve worked as a Senior Copywriter, Lead Copywriter and Content Strategist at some of London’s most well-regarded digital agencies. Now, as a freelancer, I help brands navigate the ever-changing world of content marketing with results-driven copy. Need words? Copy that I could be a great fit for you if you need help with: Your SEO content – I’ve worked in SEO since 2012 (the SEO dark ages, you might say!), so I really do understand the world of SEO copywriting inside-out. I can help you refine your keyword strategy. And I can deliver content that is pristinely optimised for top, middle and bottom-of-the-funnel keywords. Your brand blog – from ideation to article creation, I can help turn your brand blog into a community-growing, customer-nurturing, lead-generating machine. Your website – I can deliver clear, user-focused and on-brand copy for your website; including going back to the drawing board and working on your brand proposition, if that’s what’s needed. Your brand tone of voice – feeling hoarse? 🐴 (Sorry). Sounds like it’s time for a new voice. And I could be just the person to do it. (My clients often tell me I just ‘get’ brand voice instinctively, and I've edited for giants like Net-A-Porter, Pfizer & Selfridges to bring copy in line with brand guidelines). Socials, emails & CRM – from email nurture campaigns to LinkedIn captions and in-app messages, I can deliver on-brief, on-brand copy with fast turnaround times. 💡 Like the idea of working with a friendly, creative and meticulous copywriter? Give me a call on 07974185416 or drop me a line at india.johnson12@gmail.com. You can ask me about my availability, rates and anything else you’d like to know. India has captured the ‘voice’ of my company and has made our marketing, content and even product that much better. She’s given the company a personality that our customers and partners have really gravitated towards. Not to mention she is an absolute joy to work with – responsive, communicative, and an overall nice person.” – J.D. Rainey, CEO of Finmo “India knows how to get to the route of a problem, solving it through intelligently written, creative copy. She can get to grips with a client’s business, technology, product or service by asking the right questions in order to create compelling, on-message content that really gets to the heart of what’s needed.” – Louise McFetridge, Head of Content at Brave Bison “India has been a freelance copywriter for Ticket Tailor for more than four years, consistently delivering high-quality monthly content, including both brand-focused and SEO-oriented blog posts. She’s an absolute pleasure to collaborate with, and we wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone in need of copywriting support — from conceptualising ideas to final publication. India’s precision is second-to-none, and her intuitive grasp of our brand’s voice, even as it evolves, makes her a tremendous asset to any organisation seeking to outsource copywriting.” – Head of Marketing at Ticket Tailor “India goes above and beyond in researching each topic, uncovering facts, figures, and perspectives – something that was particularly evident when we collaborated on a whitepaper. Her attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality, well-researched content is amazing. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a talented and reliable content writer.” – Megan Crossley, Head of Marketing at Onsi

✨"You have a wonderful natural style ... this is excellent - thank you. Just what we were hoping for!" ✨ Jo Shaer, Lollipop - content marketing specialists for Fire and Security sectors. Hi there, I'm Andrew – a Northampton-based freelance copywriter for all things architectural, the built landscape, placemaking, heritage, photographic, and the great outdoors. A writer who brings places, spaces, products, and services to life with meaningful and memorable words. Words that can... • Paint a persuasive picture • Simplify a complex message • Engage, resonate, and connect with your ideal audience • Evoke a thought or a feeling • Tell your compelling story • Break down potential barriers • Build trust • Help you stand out from your competitors • Inspire even the mildly curious to act... Words clearly written with a human touch. Not something that's been cobbled together by ChatGPT or one of its cousins without any forethought, care, or effort. So, whatever your message. Whatever your aim, let me find just the words you're after. ✨"...with such a complex message, clarity was essential. You have succeeded where we had struggled and the brochures and project proposals you've written are pitched perfectly." ✨ Peter Tyler and Gordana Mandic, Directors, Tyler Mandic Architects, Chelsea, London. Why do I write for such a mix of sectors? It's not quite such a random choice as you might think. Instead, it's all about photography. Before entering the world of copywriting in 2018, I was a freelance landscape and location photographer. Shooting editorial and commercial images for stock and various clients, including the National Trust, I specialised in photographing Britain's architecture, landscapes, gardens, and heritage locations. All things that genuinely interested me. And still do. So it made perfect sense to write for clients in the same sectors, too. In a way, I'm still creating pictures, only now using words rather than a camera. With just the right words, I paint persuasive pictures to bring places, spaces, products, and services to life. ✨“What can I say? Your words took me on a journey. I was fully engaged and absolutely loved the writing style!" ✨ Toni-Ann Bird, Director, Guild House Estate Agents, Warwickshire. Some extra (reassuring) bits you'll want to know... 🎯 I have a diverse copywriting portfolio. Projects include writing for... • Architects • Luxury outdoor clothing brands • High-end contemporary and period design properties • Designer watch and jewellery engraving • PropTech 3D Smart City modelling platform for sustainable urban design and planning • Garden design • Independent housebuilding/construction • Garden retail • Marketing agencies • A household name in paint • Photographers • Photographic studios • Local authority planning officers • Fire safety and protection • CCTV and Security systems • Cyber-security • Business Resilience • Wellbeing in nature • Photographic holidays, tours, and workshops, and • Heritage tourism 🎯 I've written in-depth illustrated articles and short features for various UK consumer and trade publications. Topics include garden design and history, heritage travel, and (naturally) photography. 🎯 I'm trained and qualified with a College of Media & Publishing (CMP) Level 4 Diploma (with Distinction) in Copywriting. 🎯 I also have a CMP Level 4 Diploma (Distinction) in Google SEO. 🎯 I'm fully insured with Professional Indemnity cover for £1,000,000 from Policy Bee. 🎯 My current day rate is £360. According to ProCopywriters' latest survey for 2024, the UK average day rate is £440 meaning you get the essential words you're after at a rate that's realistic and fair for both of us. Now, what would you like me to write? I can help you with... ✅ Advertorials / Advertising Features / Sponsored Articles ✅ Blog posts and Articles - Search Engine Optimised (SEO) ✅ Brochures, Booklets, Flyers, Guides, Leaflets, Postcards, Posters... ✅ Direct Mail Sales Letters ✅ eBooks ✅ Emails - nurture, share your news, promote, inform, entertain etc. ✅ Project descriptions - architectural storytelling for architects, placemakers, developers, planners... ✅ Taglines, Straplines and Slogans ✅ Web Pages ✅ Website Refresh - adding a little polish to make your words really shine ✨"Thank you so much, Andrew - this is great! You’ve really nailed the evocative copy we're after. And with so many options for taglines, we definitely have that part of the project covered too." ✨ Emma Mathias, Bradshaw Taylor - the home of luxury outdoor clothing and country lifestyle brands. So, for captivating, enticing, and memorable copy and content that's... • Carefully crafted for your ideal audience • Easily understood - but not dumbed down • Always engaging, and • Never dull Please get in touch. Head over to my new look website, email me from this page, or call me (you'll find the links below) and tell me more about the words you're after because I'd love the opportunity to work with you on your next copywriting project. ✨"Andrew ... your work has been invaluable to us." ✨ Paola Bergamaschi, Studio Director, Christian Tagliavini Photographic Art, Switzerland

I’m an easy-to-work-with website and SEO copywriter and AI specialist for small and mid-size businesses and marketing/content agencies. What I write ▪️Home pages ▪️About pages ▪️Service pages ▪️Product descriptions ▪️Blog posts ▪️Case studies ▪️Articles ▪️Landing pages ▪️Advertorials ✅ Human-first copy that shows your target audience how your product or service solves their pesky problems and fits into their life. ✅ Written in a way that's clear, bite-size and easy to follow on both desktop and mobile. ✅ And always sprinkled with keywords to give Google and Bing a little side nudge to show you in their search results. ❌ No cringey marketing speak, cheesy cliches, robotic AI language or keyword stuffing. Why me? ▪️Trusted by 100+ small businesses ▪️5+ years writing SEO and web copy ▪️Fast turnaround times ▪️No missed deadlines Check out my portfolio on my website. Here are some reviews from Linkedin: More about me My niches are: small businesses and the travel/tourism industry. They’re quite varied, right? 👇So here's my story in a nutshell 👇 I was originally in travel and tourism marketing, but then the Covid-19 pandemic hit. The travel industry collapsed and I had to diversify. So in March 2020, I began working with small local businesses: family-run, start-ups, sole traders, freelancers, 1 or 2-man companies, etc. I helped my small biz clients survive the "new normal". How? Well, my services—web design, copywriting and SEO—enabled them to make the switch from offline to online during the restrictions. I designed their website, wrote the content and optimised it all for search engines. This meant they could now attract new customers remotely, even if they were busy baking banana bread in their pjs during lockdown. 🦠 Weird times, hey? 🍌 Anyway. Fast-forward to 2022, life is back to normal, people are travelling again, and my travel industry clients came back. Yay! But by this point, I'd already built relationships with my small biz clients, learned new skills and developed new services. So I decided to serve both sectors. It's been over 3 years now and business is going really well 😊. You're selling a decision. A decision to buy – or not to. And such decisions happen faster than you can think. Quite literally. You see, before your conscious mind has had the chance to process, your subconscious has already made its calculations. In fact, cognitive scientists say ~95% of our behaviour, emotion, decision-making (and more) depend on brain activity beyond our conscious awareness. 95%! In other words, we're basically running on autopilot. And using some (very) convincing post-rationalisations to justify our actions... In over 200,000 years, that's not really changed. We were (and still are) guided by behavioural principles and evolutionary instincts we're not fully aware of. The outcomes are different, yes - we're not fighting for survival anymore - but the drivers are still very much the same. They're hardwired into us. And once you know what they are (and how to tap into them) influencing behaviour becomes a whole lot easier. You can do it in person, over the phone, online, in writing - it doesn't matter. It all works the same way. And you need it. Just like every other business. Because... How are you going to generate leads... make sales... launch new products... impress investors... grow your customer base... without changing behaviour? Winning others to your way of thinking isn't a "nice-to-have". It's a must-have. Especially when you have a product or service that genuinely helps the people in your market. In the written realm, i.e. the world of copywriting, you need to convince your readers that your product or service is worth the money they're about to pay for it. And, in essence, that's all persuasion is: Highlighting how your offering benefits your reader – and agitating how bad life will be without it. Push. Pull. Push. Pull. And any copywriter – heck, *anyone* – could follow that approach... But the devil is in the details. Just stating facts is too overt. Too obvious. (Think, when was the last time you bought something, knowing you were being persuaded?) Instead, you need to be subtle. Compelling. And slip in under the radar. You need to make your readers feel like they're making this decision themselves. And that's not something just "anyone" can do. Over 75 businesses across the UK have used me to help them win their market to their way of thinking. And I've done so via websites, landing pages, sales pages, emails and social media ads. Together, we've turned hesitant window shoppers into high-paying loyal customers, who not only want to take action... but enjoy coming back for more. So, get what your business needs. Message me now. “Lewis is a great copywriter. He has worked on ads and landing pages for us, both delivering fantastic results. He is easy to work with, enjoys collaborating and is always honing his skills. Highly recommended.” -- Stephen Bavister, Director/Founder of LexisClick Growth Consultancy 5 (kinda odd) facts about me: - I like to eat kiwis with the skin on - I'm based near Ipswich, Suffolk - I graduated from Loughborough University with a degree in Automotive Materials Engineering - I'm on a mission to visit 50 countries before I'm 30 (I've visited 43 so far) - I'm a big fan of RHCP, especially John Frusciante

Sorry for butting in, but did you say you were looking for a copywriter who goes the extra mile? Someone who only files your copy when it has been explored from every angle (UX, SEO, readability, CTAs, flow, etc.)? More importantly, can I tempt you out of hiring any of the other writers here with the promise of a "free consultation" (i.e. quick phone chat, bring your own biscuits)? Let's talk! Here's what I can do for you: 1/ Websites. My forté. If your website isn't cutting it, I'll dissect it, reimagine it, plan out a better way of coming at things and then deliver sparkling copy built with user experience, conversion and SEO in mind. This is what I do most days (please see my lovely freelance copywriter website for testimonials). 2/ Interviews. When you need a seasoned writer to speak to someone important (case studies, CEO interviews, customer stories etc.), I lean on 20+ years of experience and literally thousands of successfully completed jobs to get you what you need. I regularly put heart and soul into other kinds of work, too, such as: * Marketing emails and newsletters * Survey results/analysis/reports * Corporate copy * International copywriting (when you need a native-English copywriter) * White papers and reports * Brochures and more. Over the years I have: * Got lost in creative work for everyone from Samsung to Cannes Lions and Harrods. * Generated meticulously planned (and written) launch copy for countless websites – large and small. * Created social media content for all the main channels. * Penned copy for technical guides, flyers, billboards, packaging and LinkedIn profiles. * Helped numerous brands to increase web traffic, conversions and time on site. If you need a go-getting, efficient, highly skilled writer who 'gets' things quickly and doesn't faff about... drop me a line :) --- "At TITAN Containers, we've discovered a true wordsmith in Mike. I am proud to recommend him to those in need of exceptional copywriting services." Rasmus Nørgaard, Group CMO, TITAN Containers "It's rare to find someone who truly wants to help your business grow, but Mike is that exception. Full of great ideas, he has helped with amazing email and website copy." Amy Brann, Founder, Synaptic Potential "I was picky when choosing our copywriter – I'm so glad I hit the jackpot with Mike! He gets it. Quick, self-propelled, adaptable – and super professional to work with."
